Healthier you! Overcome fear of the gym: find the exercise that you enjoy + gets you results!
Each New Year, one of the most popular resolution I see and hear is "Releasing weight". As a confidence coach I'm not even going to pretend that releasing weight doesn't affect your confidence. I know when I lose weight, I feel better. I feel like my clothes fit better, I'm more confident wearing certain outfits, I feel lighter, have more energy and just generally feel more confident in myself overall.
We all know that in order to release weight we need to change our diet and exercise. Now most of us don't have home gyms and if you live in the northern states, it's too cold to exercise outside during these winter months, so that's where the gym comes in...
But, I have heard from so many women that they "hate going to the gym", or avoid it all together!
Most women have so many assumptions about going to the gym:
That other people there are staring at you--WATCHING you work out (especially men)
That those people are JUDGING your body
That the gym is a place only for women and men who are super in shape, skinny, muscled up and athletic. And if you're not one of those then you'll stand out like a sore thumb.
Most women assume that when they are working out, men especially are watching them work out. They are staring at your body, judging you and that makes you feel very uncomfortable.
Most women assume that everyone in the room is judging your body--analyzing it, sizing you up, picking you apart, and categorizing you as skinny, fat, small, big, attractive or unattractive, young, old, athletic or not, etc etc etc...blah blah blah...
Most women assume that the gym is only for the super athletes who are muscled up, skinny, and look like they, well, go to the gym a lot (haha). They feel like they don't belong here because they aren't one of those adjectives. They feel out of place.
Well, I am not a health coach, or a personal trainer, but I can say with certainty that none of the above is 100% true.
Here's the thing--the vast majority of people at the gym have their headphones in and are focusing on THEIR OWN WORKOUT.
What if I told you that those people are not watching you because they're watching themselves?
