New year's resolution OR a REAL lifestyle change

I want you to have not just another new year's resolution abandoned by February, but a REAL lifestyle change

Each year around the end of December, people all around our country start thinking about their "New Year's Resolution". The term "New Year, New YOU!" is thrown around a lot. And I get it--it feels like the new year brings in a fresh start. It's almost like you get to hit the reset button and begin again. And so with the holiday busyness over, you feel like you now have time to focus on yourself more.

But what tends to happen? In January, most people are extremely motivated to stay committed to their resolution and then by mid-February they fall back into their old patterns.

Why is this? Is it lack of motivation? Lack of discipline?

It's because consciously they changed--but their subconscious patterns remained the same. And the subconscious mind always gets what she wants!🙂

When you're consciously focused on what you want to do, you usually do it.

But when you go "unconscious"--you allow the ego to take over--you fall back into the script that has been playing out for years. You go back to "default" mode so to speak.

And so, people beat themselves up about it--they get down on themselves, scold themselves, say "it's just too hard" or things like "I was doing good, then I wasn't..."

They feel "bad" about not keeping up with their resolution. And the negative self talk doesn't help. That doesn't instill confidence in a person.

So how can you turn just another new year's resolution into a real lifestyle change? You change the habits of behavior and action.

Because those needs of yours are getting consistently filled one way or the other--and so now it's time for you to change how they get filled.

You consciously choose how you want your needs met and then you create a new pattern of behavior and action.

Craving comfort? How do you want to experience comfort?

Craving certainty? How do you want to experience that now?

Craving variety? How do you want to get out of boredom in a way that you feel is healthier for you?

Make the switch and feel the emotion in your body with the new experience. Repeat. Let this new habit become anchored in your body and create a new healthier pattern.

Retrain the body. And remember, you are in charge. It's not easy at first, but through repetition comes confidence.

I share how to make that real lifestyle change in my popular self study course “Resolution Revolution”. If you’re interested in the training, you can check it out here.
